Here's what we submitted to FETC Learn how podcasting can be integrated into your curriculum and be diversified for each learner. This workshop has been tailored to meet the needs of both the classroom teacher and district personnel. Come join this fast paced workshop where participants will learn how to record and edit audio/video, create podcast/videocast, generate xml code, choose a hosting option and submit podcast to web sites such as the iTunes Music Store. The workshop presenters have been working with podcasting for the last two years and currently host school and district level podcasts.
Objectives:
Record a podcast using Garageband and Audacity; Create xml file to submit to web sites; Learn the different types of podcast files (mp3 or m4a); Post the podcast on the web as a complete project.
Concepts:
To develop an understanding of the importance of anytime, anyplace learning; Understand the basic concepts of RSS (Really Simple Syndication); The ability to deliver content to a targeted audience.
Skills introduced and practiced:
Evaluate existing podcasts and how they can enhance curriculum; Identify creative ways to introduce podcasts into education; Experience making & publishing a podcast
Questions and Comments:
We will use GarageBand to make the podcast.
Can we use the built-in iSight to make the videocast?
Are we going to use a particular type of software to generate the xml code or will GarageBand do it?
The process of submitting a podcast to iTunes is simple if I remember correctly?
Do we need an dot Mac account?
We will need to publish it somewhere if not at Apple.
Or, do we publish at dot Mac and on Curriculum2Go?
I have a basic understanding of RSS. We need to come up with a handout to help with the concept part.
